c.d. starts with worry…about the Cards, The Cats and the election.  Then his mood brightens as he bestows his highest recommendation on 2 movies that must be seen…Searching for Sugar Man and Flight.

c.d. begins with his Detroit Tigers and Hall & Oates.  Then he turns his focus to a movie he connected with…Liberal Arts…and the review reveals a bit about him.

c.d. begins bemoaning the BCS and the way they’re treating the Oregon Ducks.  Then kills a bit more time trying to keep reviewing 2nd Serve…filmed here in Louisville…Let’s say he really wanted it to be good.

Mr. Kaplan demands your support for WFPK’s Fall Membership Drive at 502-814-6565 and WFPK.org…Then talks in glowing terms about Christopher Walken in the blood spattered comedy Seven Psychopaths.  Ben Affleck also gets the Maven seal of approval for his acting and directing chops in Argo.

c.d. turns us on to two most interesting, but for different reasons, films.  Bachelorette, with more than it’s share of undeserving bad reviews, and Robot & Frank, with a plot line like no other he’s seen.

Guest host Michael Young welcomes c d kaplan to the morning show for some fraternizing, and the Maven’s latest film reviews.  He discusses the college a capella choir drama Pitch Perfect (“slyly funny”), as well as the new time-travel-thriller Looper (good, but doesn’t always make a lot of sense).

c.d. opens with two stories about The Killer…Jerry Lee Lewis and segues into 2 films. First Cosmopolis…too much navel gazing…he walked out.  Then a film he is still mesmerized with a few days after seeing it…The Master.
