Arcade Fire, on the street where you live

Hope you’re enjoying the album of the week – I know we’re enjoying playing it for you.

Speaking of Arcade Fire, here we have one of the most spectacular and creative browser tricks I’ve ever seen – an “interactive movie” called The Wilderness Downtown. Using the song “We Used to Wait” from the new AF album, the site asks you to put in the address of the house where you grew up – then builds a dynamic video using Google Maps and Street View data to incorporate your childhood home into the video.

It’s not perfect, but man is it ambitious. Be sure to stay for the ending.

(One note – it only works in the Google Chrome browser, which you can download here if you don’t have it yet.)
